Under REACH substances with certain hazardous properties (e.g. carcinogens, endocrine disruptors and persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic substances) can be included in the so-called Candidate List - Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) - and subsequently be regulated to make sure that the risks associated with these substances are properly controlled. This can be a challenge for companies that use SVHCs in their production, as the use of some substances can be forbidden or subjected to authorisation.
